I'm Sure You've Got Questions...

I hope I've got answers!

In this blog post, my goal is to tell you about how this blog works, give you some general information about the Monroe Art League (MAL), and cover some Frequently Asked Questions.

First and Foremost, this blog is going to be updated weekly to make sure that you can keep up with what's going on with the League's events, members, and projects. This will also help elimiate the number of emails that get sent to the League Members, and allow anyone interested in joining know what we do here!

On weeks when there's no particularly important updates, I may also use this blog to talk a little about different types of art, current artistic events happening in the Monroe (or even Detroit/Toledo) area, conduct an interview with League members, or even give you ideas for fun little art projects you can do when you're bored or with any children in your life. My main goal is to make sure the blog stays positive, energetic, and rich in knowledge for all things art!

As far as General information about the Monroe Art League, check out our About section to get a brief history!

The MAL meets on the fourth Tuesday of every month with the exception of the Summer Picnic in June, and the Holiday Party in December (if there are date changes, etc., members will be notified via email).

The MAL also participates in various Arts Within The Community, where League members exhibit their work in local businesses and public buildings, rotating both artwork and venues. Many such exhibits are ongoing and are called, "Spot Shows."

As for Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):

How do I become a member of the Monroe Art League?

  • Joining has never been easier! Just check out our Join page and follow the instructions there!

I'm a member, where can I access the Minutes of the MAL meetings?

  • Meeting Minutes will be emailed to each member of the MAL after the meeting takes place. If you're not on this mailing list, please visit our Contact page and tell us so we can get your email added to the list!

How do I get my picture, bio, and work on the Members page?

  • First, you've got to sign up to become a member! If you've done that, you should get instructions in your welcome email. If you didn't, or if you have been a member and at the time this website was created opted to not have your picture, bio, and work on the Members page, please send an email to our webmaster at sweathe23@gmail.com with the subject heading, "I'd like to be on the MAL Members page, please!" They'll be sure to get back to you within 48 hours with instructions on what you need to do!

How long is it going to take to update things on the website if I notice a mistake?

  • Please give up to a full week for changes to be made to the website. Our webmaster works a full-time job that additionally has on-call hours after 5 p.m. and on weekends (especially during the holidays). This, in addition to her social obligations on weekends (where she finally gets to leave the computer desk!), means it may take her time to get to updating the website outside of its regularally scheduled maintenance.
    Please remember,
this is completely done on volunteer hours, so your patience and kindness is critical to the running of this website!

Can I subscribe to the Blog to get the weekly updates instead of checking on the website?

  • Unfortnately, no. The blog is updated reguarly from week to week, with a steady update to be determined. Once that has been configured, an email will be sent out to members and the website will update to inform the public when new blog updates will drop.

Do any of the MAL members sell their work/sell prints or take commissions?

  • Yes! If you're looking to reach out to a specific artistan, please Contact us so we can put you in touch with them! However, it should be noted that not every artistan takes commissions or sells every piece of their artwork or makes prints.

I'd like to submit a donation to the MAL for their contribution to the art world in Monroe, MI

  • If you'd like to make a contribution to the MAL, please check out our PayPal.
