If you haven't seen Wicked--either the stage play or the movie, I suggest you correct your mistake.
It's about the Wicked Witch of the West (Elphaba) and Glinda the Good Witch from The Wizard of Oz, and it's absolutely packed to the brim with show-stopping musical numbers, dances, and political talk about prejudice, racism, colonialism, rights of the many, and the power of societal standards, misuse of the press, and love.
It's also where I found the picture for the title. (And for the record, while I did like Ariana Grande's Galinda, I much prefer Kristen Chenoweth's original stage version of the character.)
Anyway, as much as I could go on and on about Broadway productions and their Hollywood counterparts (and I could go on and on), I'm here to address the Elton John subtitle of this blog post: It's back, baby!
(Even though the lyrics are "stone cold sober," I am not, in fact, completely sober. My posion of choice is whiskey, and I have been known to wind down with friends at a nice resturant with an old fashioned occasionally.)
Anyway, after sitting down with our newest webmaster, Tommy G--who so graceously came out of retirement to take some of the finer things of maintaining the website off my ridicously overfilled plate (working full time, running my own craft show business, running a romantacy book club with my friends, going to doctors appointments, playing in two Dungeons & Dragons campaigns, and just trying to live life left me very little time to keep regular maintence up for this website)--I handed over some of the more tedious jobs over so they can be regularly updated.
Tommy took a shine to it immedately, and was excited to get to play around on this monster of a program known as Without Code, the software we use to maintain the Monroe Art League.com address.
I was happy he was happy, and told him he could contact me with any questions about it, just please be careful with it as it's stupid sensitive and not to touch the blog.
Because I would be picking it back up again.
Okay, okay, I would be trying to pick it back up again.
One of my New Year's Resolutions™ this year was to write more.
My fanfiction
My original fictions
My journal
and
This Blog.
And I'm just stubborn and spiteful enough (literally, I run on determination and spite. They are my source of power) to acheive my New Year goals.
So, I thought I'd start with this post.
Please be patient with me as I get back on track to updating this blog.
Not every post is going to be stellar, or long, but a post is a post, and that's one step closer to my goal to write 24 of them this year.
Of course, if they end up looking like that gif of Data from
Star Trek: The Next Generation's daughter Lal, where she tries to catch the ball...I appologize in advance. At least I tried.
Anyway, to finish up this post, I thought I'd go ahead and write about some art league stuff, because I guess I should do that since this is the MAL's blog.
This upcoming meeting (Tuesday, February 25th, 2025), I'll be there to not only take notes of this month's presenter to but in the blog like I did before, but I'll be going over some new, exciting things I want to add to the website, including getting it set up with Redbubble for the members.
It's finally time, and I think everyone will come to appreciate it.
It might be hard at first, but like I tell myself all the time: you can do hard things.
This is me, signing off for now.
If anyone needs me, I'll be in my craft zone, amping up my stock for this summer's abundence of craft shows!
See ya real soon MAL folks!
